The Set & Save Smart Thermostat program is a demand response program where we may automatically adjust the temperature on the smart thermostat in your home by as much as 4° to help reduce demand on the grid during periods of high electricity use or extreme temperatures, often referred to as a Set & Save event.

Making this small adjustment can benefit your electricity bill, your local community and the environment. Plus, you won’t have to worry about missing an alert or not being home when called upon. When the time comes to conserve, you won’t be caught off guard. Your smart thermostat will send you a notification and automatically adjust to the right temperature without you having to do a thing. All you have to do is enroll in the Set & Save Smart Thermostat program.

Set & Save events can last up to 4 hours, but you’re always in control. You can adjust the temperature on your thermostat at any time.

You must have an eligible smart thermostat from Google Nest, Honeywell Home or Sensi, along with Wi-Fi and an active account with your smart thermostat’s app. You must connect an eligible smart thermostat to Wi-Fi and then sign up for our Set & Save Smart Thermostat program. Once you’re signed up, you will receive several notifications when a Set & Save event starts.

You must set up your thermostat using the free Honeywell Total Connect Comfort app to register it in the Set & Save Smart Thermostat program.

You can even enroll more than one thermostat.

Whenever people need to conserve energy to help the grid, we may need to call a Set & Save event between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. When this happens, you will receive notifications via several channels. This can depend on the type of thermostat you have.

Here’s what you can expect to see from each brand:

• • Google Nest: A gold gear will appear on the display of your Google Nest thermostat and your Nest app to let you know that an "Energy Rush Hour" is happening.
• • Honeywell: An "Energy Savings Event" notification will appear in the Total Connect Comfort app.
• • Sensi: On the Sensi thermostat, if you’re currently in an event, you’ll see “Active Savings Event” on thermostat display, along with the time that event will end. The same information is available in the Sensi app.

Your smart thermostat will adjust by no more than 4°. When the event ends, your thermostat will return to its regular settings and schedule. With the Set & Save Smart Thermostat program, you can override those automatic thermostat adjustments at any time.

Yes, they can. Critical events may occur for various reasons (such as power outages or an extreme weather event that may create a critical need to stabilize the electric grid), so Cirro Energy would call a Set & Save event. This can happen at any time of the day. Multiple events may occur in one day, but you can always choose to opt out.

Set & Save events will only likely occur during times of extreme temperatures to conserve energy, and you can always opt out if you need to.

No. During a Set & Save event, your smart thermostat will change settings to save electricity and keep you comfortable. But you can choose to change the temperature and not participate in that particular event at any time.

Opting out is simple. You can override the temperature adjustment directly on your smart thermostat or on the app. Your thermostat will keep the temperature you set and then bring it back to its normal schedule.

Yes. When you enroll in the Set & Save Smart Thermostat program, you’ll get a one-time bill credit of $50.

The bill credit will appear on your Cirro Energy account within two billing cycles of enrolling in the program.

No, whether or not you choose to enroll in the Set & Save program or participate in a Set & Save event will not affect your current Cirro Energy electricity plan.

Yes. You may cancel your enrollment in the Set & Save program by calling Cirro Energy at 1-800-MY-CIRRO.
